Black Ops 3 has gone all out with their zombies mode this year. We
get our usual dose of A-List celebs to play the roles of the four main
characters. Treyarch has also built an entire city for us to slay
zombies in, and created a amazing story for the mode to boot.
Zombies represents an incredibly tough challenge, especially if you
don't know what you're doing (Noob), so I put together some tips 'n' tricks to help you survive the zombies apocalypse.
Playing with mates will keep you alive:
Zombies was built around communicating with your team mates: teaming up with strangers who don't know what they are doing will make you wish you
were a zombie. Find 3 friends who you can team up with, that way
you're all on the same page. It is important that everyone on the team is
aware what your other teammates are doing when you decide to open a gate when
one of you becomes the monster where a sudden horde of enemies appears and so forth.
Stick together, ride and die together:
Stay close together damnit! If one of you goes down,
it's a pain in the arse to have to run all the way to the other side of the map to
revive your teammates. In later rounds, when zombie R.A.P.S and giant monsters are
coming your way, working as a team is the only way you're going to make
it to the next round, so don't go wandering off.
Don't stay still, keep moving:
Standing still like a statue is the best way to be killed by a zombie coming up to you
from behind. It only takes a couple of scratches before you're down, and
these zombies are relentless and very difficult for
you to escape once your surrounded.
Sprint, turn, shoot:
Don't run backwards while your shooting, either, as you're likely to
back into a crowd of the undead who will corner you and you'll soon be taken down. Sprint into an area of safety, turn, fire a few rounds, then
turn and sprint again.
Don't open gates too soon, dont panic! (that is so annoying):
It can be tempting to see what lurks behind locked gates as soon as
you've saved up enough points to do so, but don't be stupid in thinking
that making the map bigger is the best tactic to take on zombies. The more gates you open obviously means the bigger the map, this means the
more places there are for zombies to jump in and attack you from, and
the more entry points you'll have to repair. If you open the gates too soon,
you won't have enough points saved up to buy the weapons you need to take on the new hoard of zombies and build the
traps that will save your life to survive on into the later rounds.
Make sure you survive at least a couple of rounds before opening the first
gate, that way each player should have a good amount of points to buy a decent
weapon, and you should all be familiar with the first room atleast.
Grab a Gobblegum, Om Nom Nom:
Keep your eyes out for Gobblegum machines. These cost 500 points and can
give you pretty nifty perks. You can customise the five potential Gobblegums
available to your team in the pre-game menu, you unlock more as you level-up.
Make sure there aren't any or too much (if you can handle them) zombies around before you pay, the
machine takes a while and if you don't get the boost quickly enough,
the lion's head will swallow it back up and you'll lose out altogether.
Becoming the Monster RAWR!:
Becoming the monster is the most important and funner part of Zombies. It's not about
running around and killing, either, you're actually tasked with
activating every vital power station and unlocking new areas of the map.
The Monster can do things that the humans can't (obviously), like breaking down the
cursed chain-link doors, which can house artefacts or buffs which will
help your team progress. You are also required to break open boxes, which can house an artefact or buff.
You'll notice that the Monster has some nifty abilities: electricity &
grapple. You need to run around as the Monster and look for anything in
the map that's glowing bright red. Many of these are the electricity boxes, zap
them to bring power to the item stations spread around the rooms,
which you and your team buddies will quickly begin to desperately need,
like the Gobblegum machines and quick revives. These electricity boxes and
cursed doors will also grant you access to new areas, like the teleporter in
the sewers which takes you to the abandoned subway.
If you look up there also are some grapple hooks, some of them
will take you to the higher levels of the map, and will allow you to unlock
more stations.
Remember! once the timer runs out, you'll spawn
back as your human character at the chalice where you became the monster,
so be ready to fight off some zombies if you have already cleared the
area. You can click and hold R3 if you want to end your
summon early, once you've opened a nearby door, this is the safest
option. The best tactic is to look around the area near a chalice to see
what you can use the monster for before summoning it.
Don't pick up buffs straight away:
Character buffs are excellent for saving your team mates in a bad situation, but don't
grab them as soon as they appear. The Kaboom nuclear blast, which destroys
all the zombies currently in the level and sets them on fire, is worth using until you
can see loads of zombies, that way it's most efficient. Max ammo is best
saved for when you and your team are low on ammo, also do not forget to reload before you pic up the max ammo & ask on the headset if
anybody is low on ammo before picking it up.
If you die, you lose all your beautiful weapons:
Remember that when you die and respawn at the start of the next round, you
lose the weapon you had, and begin again with just your pistol. Quickly
find a weapon station and buy a new gun.
Got Insta-kill? Switch to your pistol:
If
you hear the 'Insta-kill' perk sound, switch to
your pistol. It's a waste of your primary weapon's bullets if
the zombies will go down with a single shot, switch to the basic weapon
and save that much needed ammunition.
Don't be Greedy (Y You No Share!):
It's nice to save up points to spend on the best weapons in the map, but remember you're part of a TEAM, and cost's of unlocking barriers needs to be shared equally amongst your team.
